You Can’t See The Sun Move But You Can See The Light Change

You can't see the sun move, but you can see the light change.

In the first moments of the early light, the edges of the garden are crystal sharp.

The shadows have distinct edges, and the drops of water on the flowers sparkle like diamonds. I am drawn into the garden by the sharpness of the scene before me, and my mind cannot help but relish the sunrise's miracle.

However, a flatness occurs as the sun rises, and the edges become diluted into muted forms for which we have names such as trees, flowers, grass, and bushes.

Now, things seem more mundane and ordinary as my mind turns to the day's tasks.

I notice the phenomenon of sharpness and flatness in other aspects of my life.

I can't see the flowers grow, but I can see their blossoms.

I don't always know people's motives, but I see the results.

What I reflect on at this moment is how the experience of the light coming further into my room is as subtle as the life gone by that I hardly noticed.

Living by the rules and rituals I was taught gave rise to the habit of hard work, clear agendas, and applying energy to goals that seemed important at the time.

Now the past is awash in darkness as time has passed.

The years have passed so quickly that I notice I didn't notice.

As Chip Conley said, "Life can feel a bit like a run-on sentence without any punctuation."

It's time to shift my mindset to present-moment awareness. I want to have the moments left to make a difference in my life and the life of others.
