Promises Are Made To be Broken
A promise is an agreement made with the declared assurance that I will do everything to fulfill the contract.
One of my characteristics is to make sure all my ducks are in a row, so I know where I am going, what I am doing there, and how long it will take.
My mind works on certainty. It allows me to feel comfortable.
So, when I agree or promise to do something, very little will get in the way of having it done.
This has the impact of shutting me down from any information I might get that indicates the promise should be amended.
I don't listen to possible changes once the agreement is made.
My tactic is to power ahead no matter what.
The fallout can be a disorganized assignment with people around me confused about what to do next.
What I have learned is that information is always coming to us.
Part of the promise is to listen to the vibrations of our world and change plans if necessary.
This goes against my upbringing that a promise is a promise.
However, renegotiation of a promise is legitimate, helpful, and valuable.
It is better to change the promise than try to fulfill it in a disruptive way, leading to a poor outcome.
